Water Heater Repair Service

Few things are as frustrating as turning on the shower and not having any hot water. Water heater problems affect your comfort at home, and you need relief. Our water heater repair services can get your system working again in no time!

Modern homes use two classes of water heaters:

  • Tank heaters feature a large tank that holds a reservoir of water. The heater heats the water in the tank, which is then available for usage around the house. Tank heaters are inexpensive and easy to install but are less energy-efficient and use more water.
  • Tankless heaters remove the water tank and instead directly heat water with super-heated coils. Tankless heaters only heat the water you use, so they reduce water consumption and won’t run out of hot water.

These two types of water heaters can be either electric or gas-powered. Electric heaters produce fewer emissions and are cheaper to buy and install but more expensive to operate and won’t work during power failures. Conversely, gas water heaters are cheaper to run but less environmentally friendly and less efficient than electric heaters.

At Air Tech of Central Florida, we have extensive experience with all modern types of water heater systems and brands. Our expert repairs can solve your water heater problems, extending the life of your water heater and plumbing system.

Water Heater Installation Services

If your water heater is over 15 years old, you may want to consider replacing it with a new unit. Newer water heaters are more efficient and can save on power and water consumption. Additionally, you can improve your home’s water quality when you replace a water heater.

If you notice any of the following issues, you should consider calling an expert about new water heater installation:

  • The water heater is 15 years or older
  • The water has a brown, rusty color
  • The hot water does not last as long
  • The unit has frequent breakdowns
  • The water smells bad even after cleaning the heater lines

At Air Tech of Central Florida, we bring over three decades of experience working with water heaters. We can help you find a replacement model that fits your needs and budget. When it comes to water heater installation, we always offer a reasonable and affordable price.

Common Water Heater Problems

Water heaters interact with both your home’s plumbing and electrical or gas systems, so water heater problems can appear in many places. Below are some of the most common problems.

Water Leaks

During operation, a small amount of condensation is normal, but large amounts of water could indicate a leak. If you notice water pooling near the base of the unit when you use it, you likely have a leak in the tank or connecting lines. Over time, gaskets and seals can also tear, causing leaks and depressurizing water lines.

Bad Smells

Bad smells are another sign you should call an expert. Foul odors coming from your water heater are likely a result of mold or algae that has started growing in the tanks or lines. You can try flushing your system with cleaning agents, but some contamination requires professional tools to remove.

No Hot Water

If you notice that your water doesn’t get hot, it could be a problem with your heating sources. For example, electric water heaters use a ceramic heating element, while gas heaters use a pilot light setup. You will need to inspect either of these mechanisms or hit the reset button if your heater isn’t producing hot water.

Heating Takes Too Long

If your water takes longer than normal to heat up, the problem is probably a heating element malfunction or gas issues. Sediment can cover heating elements, reducing their effectiveness. You’ll need to call an expert to clean or replace the heating element.

Low Water Pressure

Low water pressure could also indicate a water heater problem. One possibility is sediment or some other type of debris completely or partially blocking a water intake valve. Low water pressure could also result from a mismatch between plumbing size and water heater size.

Uneven Temperatures

Another problem is if you notice water rapidly changes temperatures without your input. Uneven water temperatures also signify a problem with the heat source.

For gas heaters, gas from the pilot light might not be achieving complete combustion. With electric hearts, the coil connectors could be loose, or the heating element might be broken. If the element gets too hot, it can trip a circuit breaker.

Strange Noises

Another common water heater problem is loud grinding or clicking noises coming from the tank or water lines. Loud noises indicate that internal components are loose and scraping against one another.
